Spotted While Scrolling: Social Impact Highlights

Spotted While Scrolling

Here’s what we saw while scrolling LinkedIn this month. Congrats, RW partners and clients, on setting a high bar for companies around the world. We hope to see more of you tell your stories so we can help spread the word!

Medtronic

Medtronic was named as one of Glassdoor’s Best Places to Work – one of my goals for the future of Realized Worth – and while I’m envious, I’m not surprised! The individuals we’ve worked with at Medtronic, with their drive, authenticity, compassion, and intelligence, are an unquestionable testament to the privilege of working with a company who cares deeply for their people, both inside and outside the company. One quote I saved from RW’s early days of working with Medtronic? “If we’re not serving the most marginalized of society, how can we claim that we’ve done everything we can? We have to keep going until we get to the edges.”  With that kind of commitment to humanity, no wonder Medtronic is a best place to work!

Stryker

There’s a lot to say about Stryker, so thankfully they published a summary of their top 5 Corporate Social Responsibility highlights! But if you want to get really inspired, take a look at Stryker’s efforts to keep their support of Operation Smile going full speed even during the pandemic and even when most employees couldn’t be together in person.

Employees around the world walked the equivalent of the distance between the Stryker offices in Auckland, New Zealand and Delhi, India – and connected on Zoom throughout! Stryker has big plans for community impact in 2022 and we’re grateful to be on the journey with them.

Also – they’re hiring! Follow Jen Boynton for updates.

Abbott

Abbott is absolutely killing it, providing BINAX NOW COVID test kits at airports around the world! I can confirm; this test made my holiday travel back from Canada smooth and painless. The best part? The employee pride as we work behind the scenes with the Global Responsibility team at Abbott is contagious. We’re #abbottproud, too! With their Future Well Kids program, Abbott has set a high bar for employee engagement in meaningful volunteerism. Just watch for what’s coming next in this program and others – you’ll want to take notes and follow suit!

Apple

While it’s been a couple months since Shannon Sinunu shared this inspiring news highlighting Apple’s Racial Equity and Justice Initiative, I know the Community Investment team at Apple continues to work to set an example of what it looks like for companies to take responsibility for their influence on societies and individuals. Watch for Apple to blaze new trails toward impact this year as they extend their innovative design skills beyond technology and into community.

Angela Parker

Co-Founder, CEO

Altria

As a company that understands the influence of its products on individual lives, I’ve been stopped in my tracks time and again by Altria’s tenacious commitment to listening, observing, and responding. This company pays attention. Among Altria’s multiple initiatives to support its people – from employees, to community members, to suppliers, to customers – I am most impressed this year by the way they’re showing up as part of the Catalyst CEO Champions For Change initiative. I’m excited to see more women, particularly women of color, leading Altria into the future. We’re honored to partner with Altria in the on-the-ground initiatives that invite employees to challenge implicit biases as we all work to create equitable and inclusive workplaces together.

Comcast

The Community Impact team at Comcast is a dream and we are beyond honored to work with them. Check out Comcast’s RISE program, which recently celebrated it’s one year anniversary. In addition to giving money to BIPOC and woman-owned small businesses that have been adversely affected by the pandemic, Comcast brings all their resources to play to infuse life into these organizations. Search “Comcast Rise” on LinkedIn to see story after story of entrepreneurs whose lives were changed through this program.

Also, they’re hiring! Follow Gwyneth Gaul for updates.

eBay

Have you checked out the eBay Foundation lately? They are on fire! In 2021, the Social Impact team completed its fourth year of the Global Give program, granting non-profits around the world support for specific programs focused focused on inclusive entrepreneurship. Each year, eBay further refines the Global Give in order to center and empower BIPOC and woman-owned organizations and initiatives like Black Girl Ventures.

This year, the Foundation is hard at work on programs that will allow for scalable, meaningful, and measurable contributions of time and talent by eBay employees. Keep an eye on this legacy company as they leap forward in both business and community impact. Follow Foundation President, Allie Ottoboni, for updates!

And so many more!

And congratulations Cisco, Griffith Foods, Target and so many partners and clients who made 3BL Media’s list of 100 Best Corporate Citizens! We are proud of you and excited for what’s to come in 2022!
